The top opens and has a retractable pole to keep the top up just like a real piano. The inside has velvet lining around the edge and the strings and soundboard are golden. 

The keys have a cover which opens to become a music tray with music already on it.  The keys are done in wonderful detail including raised black keys.

The doll house miniature piano is 3 5/8" high when closed and 5 1/2" high when open.  It is 4 /34" wide  and 5 3/4 long.
